Gorgeous Goa in India - Holiday and Touring Guide.
Visiting Goa's Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, Sahakari Spice Farm and a photo guide about the Goa Holiday locations of Margao and Bogmalo.
India Goa: Apart from a seemingly insatiable need to try out as many delicious Goan food
dishes as possible whilst on our fortnight's holiday in Goa India we did manage to wander around and do a fair
bit of sightseeing whilst on our Goa holiday. Well at least we were driven around a fair bit to various places
suggested by our excellent taxi driver (and at hardly any cost either). So we did see various parts of Goa
including the excellent Dudhsagar Waterfalls and below are just a few photos from some of the locations
visited.
We have lots more photos and information on our main Goa Holiday Guide topic as well as a guide about
our visit out to Dandeli Jungle in Karnataka State, India - please see the menus at the bottom of this page.
Photographs taken around the Bogmalo area of Goa.
Bogmalo's Beach. Bogmalo is situated just a few kilometres from Goa's (military) airport although aircraft noise is not a problem - the beach area is generally speaking very quiet and laid back. There is one medium sized hotel hidden amongst the palm trees at one end of the cove and a few restaurants and shops.
The picture on the left is of Grande Isle and the two photos on the right are of Sao Jorge Isle. These tiny islands are located only a few
kilometres out from Bogmalo beach - we had a high speed boat ride out to these islands and then whizzed around them
courtesy of the Full Moon Restaurant.
Goa's Gorgeous Beaches - these beaches are located slightly south of Margao (Varca beach)
The following are a series of photographs taken around the Goa holiday area of Margao.
Photographs of other Southern Goa beaches taken as we wandered along on our beach walk.
Bondla Wildlife Park. Having unfortunately failed to see a whole lot of wild animals whilst out in Dandeli jungle in Karnataka we took a trip out to Bondla Wildlife Park which is located a little to the north west of Ponda instead. The Park is not that big but does have a few cats, snakes and so on to look at plus some nice crocodiles. Once we had finished wandering around the Park our taxi driver took us on a wide loop back to Bogmalo by visiting several temples on the way to Old Goa, then had a wander around the Capital of Goa - Panaji. We finished up by going across the Mandovi River and having a look round Aguada Fort before the drive back to Bogmalo. It all made for a nice relaxing day (at least it was for us but perhaps not so much for Amil - our taxi driver.)
A few photos taken around Ponda on our way towards Old Goa and Panaji.
Goa's 130 acre Sahakari Spice Farm is located on Cashewnut tree covered lush
slopes a little way along the Belgaum Ponda Highway at Curti near Ponda. The Spice Farm offers plenty of
information to visitors about the various spices grown there and the uses these species are put too.
There are frequent guide-assisted walks around the farm which takes around 40 minutes - visitors can even
have a ride on an elephant.

Dudhsagar Waterfalls (Western Goa - Sanguem), Goa, India.
Dudhsagar Waterfalls
are a popular day out for people staying on holiday around the beach resorts of Goa. Our taxi driver took us
from Bogmalo to Dudhsagar (and was happy to stop at various places on
the way there and back so we could take photos etc.), then he waited around for us before we returned via a Spice Farm visit back to Bogmalo.
We were out nearly all day and he charged us 20 UK Pounds - a real bargain.
You have to do the last 45 minutes up to the falls via jeep and with a
guide - this cost the two of us 5 UK Pounds. The trip up into the mountains
was an event in itself - with lots of excellent scenery etc. It is
possible to swim in the pools at the falls but note the water is extremely
cold and there are some currents to contend with. There were no lifeguards on
duty and there was not even any lifebelts or ropes around that we could see etc. so beware if you
are tempted to go in for a quick dip. The whole trip i.e. transport by jeep - the waterfalls - and of
course returning back took around 3.5 hours and we thought it was excellent value for money.
Pictures of just a few of the various Birds and Animals which we spotted whilst in Goa and Karnataka.
